Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that the Colonial Heights City Council invites bids for a telecommunications franchise. All bids shall be in writing and shall be delivered in time to be opened in public session during the City Council meeting held on November 9, 2021, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in Council Chambers of City Hall, 201 James Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia. At such meeting, the Mayor of the City of Colonial Heights, the Honorable T. Gregory Kochuba, shall receive and open the bids in public session. Bids may be submitted to Hugh P. Fisher, III, City Attorney, prior to the meeting; and Mr. Fisher will deliver the bids to Mayor Kochuba for opening during the November 9 Council meeting.
The City of Colonial Heights already has received a bid from Verizon Virginia LLC to operate a 15-year telecommunications franchise in the City; and the terms and conditions of Verizon’s bid are specified in the draft Telecommunications Franchise Agreement that is part of Ordinance No. 21-21. The City would welcome other bids. Even if Council approves Ordinance No. 21-21, it may approve another telecommunications provider’s bid.

Please take notice that during the City Council meeting to be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., in Council Chambers of City Hall, 201 James Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia, the Council shall hold a public hearing to accept comments on the above-referenced Ordinance No. 21-21 and the approval of one or more telecommunications franchises in the City. A copy of Ordinance No. 21-21 is on file for public examination during regular business hours in the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall and on the City website at www.colonialheightsva.gov. A copy also may be obtained from the City Clerk by calling (804) 520-9360. All persons affected or interested are invited to be present at the City Council public hearing, to be held at the time and place stated above, when an opportunity will be given for them to be heard.
