Do I need a City decal for my vehicle?: No. On March 13, 2018, City Council voted to repeal the City Ordinance requiring the display of a City Vehicle License Decal. Citizens are still required to register any newly acquired vehicles with the Commissioner of the Revenue within 30 days of acquiring them. Vehicles no longer owned should also be reported.

2. Are yard sale permits required in the City?: Yes. Yard sale and sign permits are $5 and can be obtained in the Commissioner of Revenue's Office. For additional information click on Yard Sales on the City website or call (804) 520-9280. Yard sales are not permitted on Sunday.

3. How do I apply for an Elderly or Disabled Real Estate Tax Exemption?: The Commissioner of Revenue's Office administers programs offering real estate tax relief for the elderly and permanently disabled. An application must be filed with the commissioner's office each year by March 31.

5. What is the date personal property must be filed?: Personal property must be filed by January 31 each year with the Commissioner of Revenue's Office. If you have any questions, call (804) 520-9280.

How do I obtain a business license application or business personal property return?: Both forms can be downloaded and printed from the Commissioner's page of the City website or by contacting the Commissioner of Revenue's Office at (804) 520-9280. The office can answer any questions you may have and supply you with any needed forms.

7. What do I need to do when I move or sell a vehicle?: If you move or sell a vehicle, notify the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Commissioner of Revenue's Office at (804) 520-9280.
